Custom software, ownership & offboarding

Custom-built software, licensed or sold outright.

We can tailor either model to your business. Most clients license the software—even when we build custom CRM modules or workflows for them. Full ownership is a separate, rare, higher-cost buyout.

The ownership choice

Two ways to get custom software

The build can be tailored in either case. What changes is whether you license the software or buy the agreed software rights and transfer package.

STANDARD

Custom-built and licensed

We build the software around your business, and you license the finished system and selected ongoing services. FrontierPixel keeps ownership of the software.

  • Custom CRM modules and admin workflows
  • Custom forms, configurators, integrations, and automations
  • A tailored website and connected tools maintained under your service scope
RARE BUYOUT

Custom-built with ownership transfer

We build a dedicated system and transfer the software rights, source package, and handoff items named in the custom agreement.

  • A dedicated codebase and agreed transfer package
  • Deployment, documentation, or training when included
  • A rare and significantly more expensive project model

Example: custom CRM module

A custom CRM module can be licensed software.

We can build a module around your exact quoting, scheduling, sales, or follow-up process and still license that software to you. Under a license, you use the tailored module and keep your business data; FrontierPixel keeps software ownership. If you need to own and control the code itself, we scope the same type of work as a custom ownership-transfer project.

In either model, your business data and client-provided materials do not become FrontierPixel property. Those items remain yours to the extent you own or control them; third-party rights still apply. A buyout transfers only the work identified in the signed scope when the stated assignment trigger occurs.

Static offboarding

If a license ends, we can set up a static site

The public-facing website can move without pretending the hosted CRM, custom modules, databases, and live integrations are part of a static file package.

01

Confirm what belongs to you

We identify your business data, materials, domain, client-controlled accounts, and any finished files already assigned to you.

02

Create the static version

We can turn the public pages, approved copy, images, and basic navigation into a simpler standalone site. A static export is not a copy of the full hosted system.

03

Set it up somewhere else

FrontierPixel can prepare the export, set it up on a supported host, and help point a client-controlled domain. The transition scope lists timing, hosting, and cost.

Dynamic software does not automatically carry into the static site. CRM modules, databases, forms, configurators, messaging, integrations, and automations need an agreed replacement, rebuild, or continued service.

Before kickoff

Put the ownership model in writing

Your signed agreement and order form control the exact ownership, license, transfer, and offboarding terms. The project documents should make the model obvious before development begins.

Plan your project
  • Whether the custom software is licensed or transferred to you
  • Which business data, materials, domains, and accounts stay client-controlled
  • Which custom modules and hosted features remain under the software license
  • Which source files and software rights transfer under a buyout, and when
  • What a static offboarding package keeps, leaves behind, and costs
  • Which third-party services, licenses, and provider terms still apply
